| 29 Mar 2007 : GPT Steel Industries produces widest tinplate in Indian history - Steel Trade Today

GPT Steel Industries Ltd, in its 650,000 tonnes per annum Cold Rolling and Tinplate facility at Gandhidham in India, has produced 1015 mm wide tinplate.
As per reports, GPT’s 1016 mm Tinning line is the widest tinning line in the India and this is the widest tinplate ever rolled in India in its history. Before this GPT had produced 990 mm wide tinplate last week which was also the widest ever tinplate produced in the country till then.
GPT had also achieved tinplate production of 288 tonnes per shift on March 15th 2007, thereby achieving an equivalent of 260,000 tonnes per annum capacity. |

| 01 Feb 2007 : GPT Steel Industries commissions 6 HI Cold Rolling mill - Steel Trade Today

GPT Steel Industries has commissioned a new 6 HI cold rolling mill on 31st January 2007 at its CR and tinplate mill complex at Gandhidham in Gujarat, thus achieving commissioning of all the three major processing facilities. Dr Karl Mistlberger President & CEO of Voest Alpine Intertrading inaugurated the new mill.
The 6 HI mill is one of the fastest CR mills in the country with a maximum mill speed of 1400 meters per minute to give design capacity of 200,000 tonnes per annum.

01 Nov 2006 : GPT Steel starts cold rolling - Steel Business Briefing |
India's GPT Steel Industries Limited, located in the western state of Gujarat, has commissioned a new cold mill with 450,000 tonnes/year capacity, Steel Business Briefing learns from a company executive. The new facility will produce India's widest CR materials, with a width of 1,728mm, the executive claims.
The company plans to start operating another 200,000 t/y cold rolling mill next month, boosting total CRC capacity to 650,000 t/y, SBB understands.
GPT Steel operates an 200,000 t/y tinplating line at the same location that in June achieved 90% prime production. Though GPT Steel currently imports HRC – mainly from Korea and Japan – it has plans to set up its own HRC production facility by 2009, as SBB has previously reported. |

On the occasion of its anniversary on 17th October 2006, GPT Steel Industries Limited situated at Gandhidham in Gujarat, India has commissioned its 1728 mm wide 4 Hi Cold rolling line.
As of now, this is the widest Cold Rolling Mill in India. This mill, at its optimum output, has a capacity of 450,000 tonnes of CR per annum.
GPT Steel Industries Ltd is also planning to start its latest generation 6 Hi Cold rolling line next month with a capacity of 200,000 tonnes per year. With this, the combined cold rolling capacity will go up to 650,000 tonnes per annum. |

14 Jul 2006 : GPT achieves 90% prime production of tin plate in June - Steel Trade Today |
GPT Steel Industries has achieved more than 90% prime tin plate output in the month of June 2006 within months of starting commercial production. The tin mill which has been relocated from Arcelor’s Cockerill Sambre facility in Flemalle in Belgium, has been turned into a state of the art mill with some major improvements.
GPT Steel Industries is situated at Mithi Rohar Industrial Estate in Gandhidham of Kutch district in Gujarat state and has set up a 650,000 tonnes cold rolling and tin mill facility. The production of Cold Rolled products which includes the widest Cold Rolled product of the country at 1728 mm is expected within next month.
